Project Management GES 410 » 100 hours
Are you interested in learning more about project management? Whether your intent is to become a certified project manager or if you simply want to become more productive in your current role, this is the program for you. Build a solid foundation of essential project management terminology, processes, and tools. According to a recent study conducted for the Project Management Institute (PMI), an estimated one million project management jobs worldwide will be created each year throughout the next decade.
Projects can be simple or complex. While simple ones can be managed with a little bit of planning and a healthy dose of common sense, complex projects need a more formal approach. In this course you can learn the key elements of good planning such as estimating, establishing project boundaries (scope) and scheduling. You will also learn how to anticipate potential problems (risks) and ways to mitigate them. This program is based on the internationally recognized standard: A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge® (PMBOK), which ensures that you are learning project management methodologies, concepts, and terminology recognized worldwide and applicable across all industries. Upon completion of this program, you will be able to put that new knowledge to use immediately.
This combined online program consists of two parts. The first part, The Essentials of Project Management, will provide you with a solid foundation of project management concepts and ensure that you are familiar with the terminology. Completion of this part of the program meets or exceeds the requirements for those interested in the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) ®, certification. The second course is the PMP Exam Preparation course designed to focus you on the most testable concepts of project management and assist you in your certification goals.

"The online modules were great."
- C.W., Midlands Technical College
"It was nice to be able to work at my own pace, especially while working full time in parallel. My facilitator, Nikki, was an excellent help with quick questions and great support."
- D.N., Training Solutions Institute
"I enjoyed the ability to be able to proceed at my own pace, during my own time, and still be able to gain the knowledge that I would in a traditional classroom. The website was nicely laid out and easy to understand. The classroom videos were a nice complement to the material. The facilitator was very knowledgeable on the topic and very helpful in understanding the material. The facilitator also made herself available virtually every day, even through holidays. I am extremely appreciative of her making herself available as much as possible."
- G.C., Berkshire
"I liked this online program as I was able to go at my own pace. The instructor helped out a great deal and was there when I needed her. If I had taken this course in a classroom I would not have been able to finish it because during the process I had a few major medical issues which would have forced me to drop out and retake it. I also travel a great deal all around the world, so there is no way I would have been able to accomplish this in a regular class. I have 2 degrees now that I received by going to regular classes (in-class) and I found this course was as challenging as a regular in class education."

"I enjoyed that it was still personalized which I did not expect in an online setting. I felt very comfortable asking questions."
- M.C., George Mason University
"My facilitator Nikki Choyce was very, very responsive. She answered every email and encouraged me when she could. I appreciate the support she provided me throughout the course all the way to completion."
- R.H., University of Texas at San Antonio
"This was my first time taking an online course, so I was little worried. However, I enjoyed the interface, presentations, and ease of usage. Facilitator was responsive and available all the time to help!"
- V.S., University of North Carolina, Greensboro
"I received support very quickly. Even on weekends, I would ask a question to the facilitator and it would be answered the same day. I liked that the course was at my own pace, it allowed me to still work while learning."
- B.O., Des Moines Area Community College
