Order Processing Exam continuedIf we sample 4,000 orders, and find 600 errors occurring on 200 of these orders, we can calculate DPMO as follows: We calculate the number of opportunities as 4,000 orders times 6 opportunities per order equals 24,000 opportunities. The Defects per Opportunity is 600 defects divided by 24,000 opportunities equals 0.025 DPO. DPMO is then calculated as 25,000 by multiplying by 1 million. Using Appendix 1 in the Six Sigma Deployment text, we convert that to about 3.5 Sigma. |
