Reimbursement Review Control Point

Physician billing groups often overlook the reimbursement review control point. This is the point in which analysis is performed on actual payments to identify variances from expected or contracted rates. With tight budgets, limited resources, and focus on the management of receivables and collecting unpaid accounts, it is easy to accept the payment from the payer. The primary problem with this approach is that many payers routinely make mistakes that result in the provider being underpaid. For that reason, reimbursement review of recently paid activity is critical and cost effective.
