The Status Bar in the Word Window


Click on the
light bulb for
a tip!
At the bottom of the screen is an area called the Status Bar. The Status Bar provides information on the position of the insertion point, behind the scene Word functions, and modes of operation. You may already be familiar with the scroll bar on the right side of the screen. Clicking on the gray area above and below the scroll bar, moves you up and down one screen at a time. Clicking on the arrows at the top and bottom of the scroll bar, moves you up or down the document one line at a time.

There are many other ways to move around a Word document. Figure 1.5 shows the major components of the Word 2003 Window. Please refer to your text for a complete listing.
