It is recommended that students take this program from a computer running Windows XP (or an earlier Windows based operating system). Students using computers running Windows Vista or Macintosh computers will be able to complete all required coursework; however, the ancillary CD’s that accompany the primary textbook are not yet Vista or Mac compatible. It is strongly recommended students in this program use PC systems as opposed to Macintosh computers.

GES provides each student with digital transcription equipment which includes a headset, a footpedal, and digital transcription software (available via free Internet download). The system requirements are:

  • Microsoft Word (any version)
  • Windows Vista/2008 2000/XP/2003 and Windows 7 or Mac OS X - 10.1 or above
  • Sound Card or Integrated Sound Support.
  • 32 MB RAM
  • 25 MB hard disk space (additional space required to store voice fiels)
  • Double-speed CD-Rom drive
  • Available USB Port
  • Internet Access – a high speed connection is recommended.
