People movement, both hands and feet, should be limited to the extent practical. Material from the upstream process should be within easy reach, and the components needed for the current production step should be within easy reach and organized in the sequence in which they are to be used. Tools needed in the production process should be within easy reach and should always be returned to their designated storage areas. One exception to the limited people movement is the establishment of a "Rabbit Chase" process that will be discussed later as one of the tools of Lean. |
