The purpose of this course is to:
- Familiarize students with the basic bookkeeping fundamentals for managing both a personal/service-type business and a merchandising business.
- Introduce students to a popular bookkeeping software, Quickbooks, used by many small businesses
- Introduce students to double-entry bookkeeping, the foundation for further accounting study.
- Reinforce students' learning through online tests, excel spreadsheet submissions, and hands-on experience with Quickbooks.
At the end of this course, the student should be able to:
- Understand the basic bookkeeping equations and all supporting journals, ledgers, and worksheets.
- Set up Quickbooks, enter data accurately, and manage the bookkeeping function for a small business.
- Explain and utilize double-entry accounting by understanding the impacts of debits and credits for all account types.
