Microsoft Access 2007

The Microsoft Access 2007 program is a comprehensive, performance-based certification preparation program designed to validate business computer skills using Microsoft Access 2007 software. This interactive online program will prepare you to take Microsoft Certification Exam 77-605. Students will not only gain basic knowledge of the software, but also how to link information, automate data entry, and create a Search Form that uses a Combo Box to filter the records. The Microsoft Access 2007 course has continuous assessment for goal-based learning. The course contains three modules with multiple lessons in each. A student needs to achieve 70% of all possible points to be able to continue on to the following module. This course also includes a final project which must be completed and submitted to the instructor. Students will need to have Microsoft Access 2007 installed on their computer prior to taking this course.


Course Objectives:
By completing the Microsoft Access 2007 course, students will:
� Know how to use and design tables, forms, and queries.
� Create Queries to find and select records by criteria, and write, test, and update those queries.
� Understand how to create forms with subforms to represent one-to-many relationships.
� Learn to use criteria, parameters, concatenation, and operators in Query designs: calculate with DateDif(),Left(), and IIF(), improve report designs with Sorting and Grouping.
� Know how to link information and automate data entry.
� Create a Search Form that uses a Combo Box to filter the records.
� Know how to use Microsoft Access and Word together in a Mail Merge, as well as publish an Access report to Word, and optimize a database for multiple users.

1. How long do I have to complete the course?
The course is set to take 35 hours of the student's time to complete. We set the courses up to be completed within 6 months, but we understand if people have special needs, and we will give extensions for students who need extra time to complete a course.

2. Who issues my certificate of completion?
When you complete the course with a passing grade, the University of Alabama will issue your certificate.

3. What are the PC requirements for taking the course?
This course cannot be taken on a Mac computer. Technical requirements include but are not limited to having internet access with a 56K modem, but it is highly recommended that you have DSL or High Speed Cable Internet Access; 64 MB system RAM; 200 MB free hard disk space memory or sufficient storage; reliable email account access, CD-ROM/DVD capabilities, and a reliable Internet provider.

You will need the following products already be loaded on the computer in order to take this course: Windows Vista Business edition or Windows XP, Microsoft Access 2007, Microsoft Word 2007, Adobe Acrobat Reader (free version), and Flash Player.
